Unconsented 70 square meter buildings:

(Prices start from $89,000 for 25-30 square meters)
With the new Granny Flat Laws effective early 2026, the government has made it far cheaper and easier to build a single dwelling up to 70 square meters which does not require a building consent. This speeds up the building process and makes building nearly twice as efficient.
Please note this option requires an LBP to supervise or carry out the work.
Now is the time to consider building a 70 square meter granny flat.
